61290 Covered Wagon Trl in Anza..land and views!

Anza is a census designated place located in southern Riverside Co., in the Anza Valley, which is a semi arid region, at a mean elevation of 3921 ft. above sea level.  The area is approx. 28 miles and the average summer temperature is about 80 degrees.  It can get cool in the winter, especially at night when the temperatures can drop to 20 degrees, and  snow is possible.

Anza is named after Juan Bautista de Anza, and when he originally hit on Anza in 1775, he named it San Carlos.  It was renamed in his honor from Cahuilla Valley to  Anza valley in 1926.  The post office opened in 1926.  Anza is bordered by 3 mountains, Cahuilla Mountain to the West, Thomas Mountain to the northeast and Beauty Mountain to the southwest.

Proximity to larger coastal cities continues to be a draw for this friendly, rural town.  It is 13 miles South of Idyllwild, 32 miles southwest of Palm Springs and 90 miles northeast of San Diego.  State Route 371 gets you into town.

Locally, Anza and several other mountain communities, including Garner Valley, Idyllwild, Pinyon Pines and Aguanga are often collectively referred to as, “the hill.”
